R&B star Chris brown has entered a not guilty plea regarding an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub in February 2023. The incident reportedly involved Abraham Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair’s Hanover square.
Brown, 36, was arrested last month at a Manchester hotel after arriving by private jet for his world tour. He was later released on bail after posting a £5 million security fee.
At Southwark Crown Court on Friday,Brown confirmed his name and birthdate before stating,”Not guilty ma’am.”
Omololu Akinlolu, 39, also known as Hoody Baby, Brown’s co-defendant and a U.S. national, also pleaded not guilty to the same charge. Both face additional charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Diaw. Brown faces a further count of possessing an offensive weapon-a bottle-in public. They were not asked to enter pleas for these additional charges; a hearing is scheduled for July 11.
Manchester Magistrates Court previously heard that Diaw was allegedly struck multiple times with a bottle at the nightclub bar before being pursued and further assaulted.
Around 20 fans attended the hearing. Brown arrived at the court amid a throng of photographers.
