Chris Stapleton Shines at 2024 CMA Awards: Performs with Post Malone and Thanks His Wife
Chris Stapleton opened the 2024 CMA Awards in Nashville with a performance of “California Sober” alongside Post Malone. Shortly after, he received the award for Single of the Year for “White Horse.” During his acceptance speech, Stapleton thanked those involved in the song’s production but forgot to mention his wife, Morgane Stapleton. Fans noticed his omission, with some expressing surprise on social media.
Later in the night, Stapleton won Song of the Year and took the opportunity to thank Morgane for her unwavering support. Morgane is a talented songwriter and producer, having worked on Stapleton’s albums, including Traveller and Higher.
The song “White Horse” originated from a 2013 film, The Lone Ranger. Stapleton and collaborator Dan Wilson wrote it despite knowing little about the movie. They aimed to create a rock-driven, western-themed song, resulting in a compelling hit that became the lead single of his latest album, Higher.
