Santa Claus Spreads christmas Cheer in Tennessee Summer with AccentCare
Even during the sweltering summer months, the spirit of Christmas thrives in Franklin, Tennessee, thanks to Harry Petty, a professional Santa Claus. AccentCare’s Home health team ensures Petty, who embodies the jolly icon year-round, remains in top form.
Candy McNeese,Home Health Clinical Manager for AccentCare, discovered Petty’s unique vocation a few summers ago. While visiting a patient, she noticed a Corvette with the license plate ”Ask Claus.” This led her to a house transformed into a Christmas wonderland, where she met Petty, who prefers to be called Santa.
Petty, a graduate of the International University of Santa Claus, has portrayed St. Nick for years, including appearances in the Tennessee governor’s parade and various galas. He needed AccentCare’s help to regain his signature jolliness.
McNeese said Petty told her his primary goal was to resume his role as Santa. AccentCare has provided intermittent care for Petty, and his caregivers always enjoy working with him.
Last December, Petty visited the AccentCare office, bringing holiday cheer and posing for photos. The team surprised him with a carving of Santa Claus, a gift that moved him to tears.
While Petty hasn’t yet returned to the holiday parade, he recently achieved a significant therapy goal: visiting a Nashville-area children’s hospital in his Santa suit. The smiles he brought to the children reaffirmed his purpose. His AccentCare caregivers consider him part of their family.
What’s next
Petty continues his therapy with AccentCare, aiming to resume all his Santa Claus activities, including the annual holiday parade, bringing joy to even more people.
