CHSAA Ice Hockey Championships Quarterfinals Conclude, Semifinal Matchups Set

AURORA – The quarterfinal round of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) Ice Hockey State Championships has concluded, setting the stage for Saturday’s semifinal games. Five of the eight quarterfinal contests, spanning both the 4A and 5A classifications, were completed on Tuesday, with the remaining games played on Wednesday.

4A Upsets and Advancements

The 4A bracket witnessed a significant upset as the No. 8 Colorado Springs District 11 team defeated top-seeded Battle Mountain by a score of 3-1. No. 2 Colorado Academy dominated No. 10 Liberty, securing a 6-0 victory. In a tightly contested match, No. 3 Pine Creek narrowly edged out No. 6 Standley Lake with a 1-0 win. The final 4A quarterfinal, featuring No. 4 Steamboat Springs hosting No. 5 Cheyenne Mountain, was played on Wednesday.

5A Quarterfinal Results and Upcoming Games

In the 5A bracket, No. 1 Poudre School District advanced with a 3-1 win over No. 9 Chaparral. No. 2 Valor Christian also secured their spot in the semifinals, defeating No. 7 Monarch 2-0. Wednesday’s action at the South Suburban Sports Complex featured a matchup between No. 3 Cherry Creek and No. 6 Mountain Vista at 5:10 p.m., and a contest between No. 4 Regis Jesuit and No. 5 Denver East at 7:40 p.m.

Semifinal Schedule: Ed Robson Arena

All four winners in each bracket will advance to the semifinals, which will be held on Saturday, February 28 at Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs.
