Cillian Murphy’s Return to ’28 years Later’: What to Know

Cillian Murphy is poised to revisit the world of ’28 days Later’ in the upcoming trilogy, starting with ’28 Years Later’ this summer. However, his appearance comes with a few conditions.
Director Danny Boyle shared details with IGN about the Oscar-winning actor’s potential involvement. The trilogy, expanding on the universe Boyle and Alex garland created, will feature interconnected stories. Murphy will not be in the initial film, which introduces Spike, a 12-year-old boy played by Alfie Williams.Spike’s family, portrayed by Jodie Comer and Aaron taylor-Johnson, navigates the post-apocalyptic zombie outbreak.
Boyle explained that each film will have a handover to the next, making it an ambitious project. Funding for the third installment depends on the success of the first two.”Everybody’s standing by for that, really. Including Cillian,” Boyle said, regarding Murphy’s participation in the ’28 years later’ project.
Murphy is expected to appear at the end of ’28 Years later: the Bone temple,’ directed by Nia DaCosta, which continues the story from Boyle’s sequel and is set to release next January.
“He is in the second one,” Boyle revealed, hinting that his appearance will tease the third film, which Sony has yet to confirm. Boyle added that with sequels, “you want to push it on and take huge risks.”
They could have said, ‘Oh no, it needs to be more sequel-y… And what do you mean Cillian’s not going to appear in the first one? I thought you said Cillian was going to be in it.’ We said, ‘Yeah, Cillian is going to be in it, but not quite the first one.’ so fair play to them. they’ve put up with a lot.”
