Cillian Murphy to Rejoin Zombie Franchise in ’28 Years Later’ Sequel

Cillian Murphy is set to return to the zombie franchise that launched his career. After speculation arose following the release of the ’28 years Later’ trailer,director Danny Boyle confirmed Murphy’s involvement in the upcoming sequel,’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.’
While Murphy won’t be in the first film, ’28 Years Later,’ his appearance in ‘The Bone Temple’ is designed to pave the way for a potential third installment, Boyle told IGN. Murphy also serves as an executive producer on ’28 Years Later.’
Boyle described the connection between the films. He said the first movie includes an “end theme” that hands off to the second, creating a cohesive narrative across the series. Funding for the third film hinges on the success of the first two.
“There’s a coda… it’s not a coda, it’s the epilogue or an end theme at the end of the first film[[28 Years Later]that gives you a handover to the second film,” the director said.
