Cintima’s Flicker Festival Celebrates Intimacy in Film
Cintima, the SAG-AFTRA-accredited intimacy coordinator training institution, is launching the Flicker Festival, a short film festival dedicated to exploring the artistry and complexity of intimacy on film. The festival seeks to highlight the importance of intimacy in film.
The inaugural Flicker Festival will take place Oct. 16 at the Culver theater in Culver City. Filmmakers can submit projects of any genre, including narrative, nonfiction, and animation. The festival emphasizes that even a brief “flicker” of time can reveal profound emotion and portrayals of intimacy. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 15, with selections announced by Sept. 22.
A jury of creatives, including Oscar-nominated actor Danielle Deadwyler, producer Miranda bailey, and intimacy coordinator Alicia Rodis, will judge the submissions. Other jurors include Amanda Chramer, Seth Caplan, Clark Moore, Almog Avidan antonir, Chris Chalk, Jiarui Guo and Roxy Siranger.
In addition to the submitted shorts, the Flicker Festival will feature scenes from John Cameron Mitchell’s film Shortbus and other notable films featuring intimate scenes. Awards will be presented for best short, best actor, best intimacy coordination, and best use of digital or artificial intelligence.
Cintima’s work as an intimacy coordinator training organization extends to collaborations with major companies like HBO, Netflix, AppleTV+, Paramount+, CBS, Amazon, and Sony. they have contributed to productions such as The righteous Gemstones, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer story, Westworld, The Afterparty, I Want Your Sex, Spider-Man: Noir, American Gigolo, and Rebel Moon.
