Coroner’s Warning
In a report issued on January 2, 2026, Dr. Anton van Dellen, assistant coroner for west London, warned of insufficient regulation surrounding non-therapeutic male circumcisions (NTMC). The report stemmed from the death of Mohamed Abdisamad, who died from a streptococcus infection following a circumcision procedure. Dr. van dellen’s prevention of future deaths report highlighted that anyone can perform a NTMC without prior training, and there are no mandated infection control measures or aftercare requirements. He urged action to prevent similar deaths in the future.
