Citizen has unveiled a lineup of new watches combining solar-powered Eco-Drive technology with traditional Japanese craftsmanship and high-end materials. The collection ranges from satellite-synced titanium sport watches to paper-dial dress pieces and quantum physics-inspired designs.
Citizen Expands Attesa Line with Two Limited Models
The manufacturer expanded its Attesa line with two models limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide. The Attesa Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary Green Flash (model CC4084-83Z) features a layered dial designed to recreate an emerald optical phenomenon, housed in a 44.6mm Super Titanium case with a green sapphire bezel and gold accents. Meanwhile, the Purple Aurora (model CC4085-81Z) adopts a deep violet tone inspired by northern lights, utilizing structural color technology to shift hues as light moves across the dial. Both models run on Citizen’s flagship F950 Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS movement, which connects to global satellites to sync time in seconds.
Eco-Drive Watches Feature Traditional Washi Paper Dials
Shifting away from high-tech gadgetry, the AQ4100-65X pairs an Eco-Drive movement with a rich crimson dial crafted from traditional Tosa Washi paper. It utilizes the A060 calibre, which maintains an accuracy of plus or minus five seconds per year without battery changes, packaged in Super Titanium and limited to 300 units. Its counterpart, the AQ4106-00B, features a white Unryushi washi paper dial interwoven with gold fibers, a Sakura Pink-treated Super Titanium case, and a brown crocodile leather strap, limited to 230 pieces. The Series 8 NB6092-01E pairs a forged-carbon dial with a Damascus-steel bezel and houses an in-house automatic movement with GMT functionality ahead of its release.
Quantum Physics Inspiration In The PHOTON Line
Citizen drew from the double-slit experiment in quantum physics for the Eco-Drive PHOTON models (BJ6560-53W and BJ6569-59X). The watches introduce a multi-layer dial that shifts as light passes across it, alongside a new generation of Eco-Drive technology capable of running for a year on a full charge. The black version wraps the futuristic dial in a black DLC-coated Super Titanium case with gold detailing and a purple seconds hand.
