The City of Salzburg is bolstering its resident services in the Liefering district with a move to a renovated senior citizens’ home and the expansion of its Forellenwegsiedlung branch. These changes, effective January 12th,aim to increase space for community engagement, intergenerational collaboration, and modern service delivery.
New Location Offers Multifunctional Space
The Bürgerversorgungszentrum (BVS) – resident Service Center – has relocated to a newly renovated space within the senior citizens’ home. The renovation, which included the introduction of a residential group model, created additional space now utilized by the BVS. The new facility boasts individual offices,a common room, and a large, multifunctional room adaptable for various purposes.
This multifunctional room features a seminar area and a café offering lunch service. A mobile partition allows the space to be transformed into a ballroom for larger events. Furthermore, a dedicated multimedia room is being established, equipped with a green screen, podcasting equipment, and mobile cameras. This room is intended to foster collaboration with local schools and youth centers, providing resources for creative projects and digital literacy initiatives.
City assumes Operational Responsibility
A key change accompanying the move is the transfer of operational responsibility for the resident service center from Diakonie to the City of Salzburg. This aligns with the city’s strategy to increasingly manage its own resident service centers, ensuring direct control over service provision and community engagement.
Forellenwegsiedlung branch Becomes Fully Operational
The resident service point in the Forellenwegsiedlung area is also undergoing expansion. The location at Eugen-Müller-Straße 19 will be upgraded to a fully-fledged resident service center. This expansion addresses the geographical division of the district by the motorway, ensuring equitable access to services for all residents. Each of the two Liefering locations will be staffed by two full-time employees.
Councilor Brandner Highlights community Benefits
City Councilor Brandner emphasized the positive impact of these changes, stating, “With the new location of the Liefering residents’ service, we are creating more space for encounters, participation and joint design in the district. The additional space enables larger events, modern multimedia offerings and new collaborations – from seniors to children and young people. In doing so, we are not only strengthening networking in Liefering, but also coexistence between generations.”
