The City of Victorville will temporarily assume operational control of the Green Tree Golf Course and its pro shop effective Sept. 1, 2026, following a 30-day contract cancellation notice from Sierra Golf Management, according to city officials. To facilitate the transition of services, city staff will undergo training during a single-day closure of the golf course and pro shop on Sept. 1, 2026, as reported by the Victorville Daily Press. Normal operating hours will resume on Sept. 2, 2026, with daily schedules remaining unchanged for patrons.
Contract History and Financial Terms
In August 2024, the Victorville City Council entered into a management agreement with Sierra Golf Management for Green Tree Golf Course, according to city records cited by the Victorville Daily Press. The contract carried a financial limit not to exceed $2,948,951 and was originally scheduled to run through Aug. 31, 2029. However, Sierra Golf chose to terminate the arrangement early by issuing a 30-day cancellation notice. The city stated it is actively seeking new overseers to manage the facility long-term while municipal staff handles daily operations on an interim basis.
Facility Background and Membership Information
Opened in 1963, Green Tree Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout stretching just over 6,600 yards along Green Tree Boulevard. The property was designed by William F. Bell, a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. In February 2026, the city expanded the footprint by opening a new library adjacent to the pro shop in a previously vacant restaurant space within the main building.
