Manchester City’s First Loss Since FA Cup Final Defeat to Manchester United
Manchester City suffered a 1-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup Round of 16, marking their first defeat since the FA Cup final loss to Manchester United last year.
Following the match, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that the team’s loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup final was due to fatigue. “The real reason for the loss was because of the legs,” he admitted. “We still had a hangover from celebrating our English Premier League 2023-24 win, which came just a week before the match.”
“This is new news. Not that we lost to Manchester United, but how long have we been hungry. We’re a little hungry from the FA Cup final but it’s good news.”
Pep Guardiola
Reflecting on the FA Cup final loss, Pep acknowledged his role in the defeat. “It’s my fault. Bad game plan. The players know why it came out that way. Tactically it wasn’t good at all, I felt today it wasn’t good at all. You plan situations and it doesn’t work. It’s that simple.”
Manchester City’s next fixture is a visit to Bournemouth on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10:00 pm Thailand time.
