ClaimDOC,a national medical benefits company,is expanding its West Des Moines headquarters with the acquisition of a 2.2-acre parcel at 1500 30th St. for $850,000, according to Polk County real estate records. The company, which helps clients remove costly networks from their medical plans, is addressing parking shortages and planning for future growth.
CEO Ben Krambeck said the company simply needs more parking spaces now, with plans to upgrade the newly acquired property and connect it to ClaimDOC’s headquarters at 3200 westown Parkway with a walkway. The nearly 10,000-square-foot office building on the new site will be renovated for use starting in 2027, he added.
ClaimDOC relocated to West Des Moines in 2021 with 80 employees.Since then, the company has grown to 153 employees and expects to add another 43 in the next two years. Krambeck anticipates a total of 300 employees within five years.
Founded in 2013, claimdoc helps employers lower health care plan costs through reference-based pricing. The company says clients typically save 25% to 35% in the first year by auditing medical claims and negotiating fair prices.
ClaimDOC averages 35 to 50 new clients annually. In 2024, the company added 35 new clients with an average of 350 employees each, Krambeck said. While ClaimDOC initially served mostly companies with blue- and grey-collar workers, its client base now includes more businesses with white-collar employees and those in the retail sector.
Krambeck credits ClaimDOC’s customer service for its high client retention rate of about 90%. He said customers speak directly with a dedicated employee who remains with them untill their issue is resolved.
As ClaimDOC continues to grow, Krambeck said it is crucial to maintain the company’s culture and connections between teams. He said the company will carefully consider team placement in the new building to avoid losing those connections.
