The new year has brought a joyous addition to the Clarke and McDonough families. Sallyanne and Derry Clarke have become grandparents to a healthy baby boy, born to their daughter Sarah-May and her husband James McDonough.
Sallyanne shared the delightful news, revealing that her grandchild’s name is a special tribute to his late uncle Andrew. The little one, born on January 16, is named Theodore Andrew, with ‘Andrew’ serving as a poignant middle name in memory of Sarah-May’s brother who passed away in 2012 at the age of 16.
The new mum, who married James in 2022, welcomed her baby after a year that saw both happiness and adversity. In January 2022, James was diagnosed with cancer, but after successful surgery and three weeks of chemotherapy, the couple was able to move forward with their plans, including their wedding in Somerset, England, later that year.
Sallyanne, a former co-owner of L’Ecrivain with husband Derry, had previously spoken about her son Andrew’s passing and the profound impact it had on their family. ‘Grief is a foreign land you’re living in,’ she told the Irish Independent in 2022, marking a decade since his death.
