Clashes between the two sides of the BNP in Chittagong over extortion and expansion of dominance

Clashes took place between the two sides of the BNP in Segunbagan area of Khulshi police station in Chittagong city. Six people were injured on both sides The incident happened at 7:30pm on Saturday.
According to the police and local sources, due to extortion, occupation and domination in the area, Khulshi Thana Joint Secretary General BNP Md. Followers of Omar Farooq and Shah Alam, Joint Convener of Thana Swachhasevak Dal. Omar Farooq Nagar is a follower of former BNP convener SK Khoda Totan. In the evening, there were several clashes between the two sides in the Segunbagan area. There were also incidents of chasing and pelting stones. Later the police went and brought the situation under control.
Asked about the conflict, former BNP Nagar convener SK Khoda suggested talking to Totan Omar Farooq. Omar Farooq later said that Shah Alam and his followers were extorting and occupying the area. They attacked us for protesting. This afternoon, Shah Alam and his followers went to the area and fired. Two people including my son Kausar were injured. There were fights yesterday and Friday. Some were injured.
Regarding Omar Farooq’s statement, Thana Svechchasevak Dal co-convener Shah Alam said AK Khoda Totan followers attacked us. The first round of attacks happened on Friday night. There was an attack tonight too. Currently, Omar Farooq manages gaming and trading of railway machines. The attack was carried out because of these protests. Four of our people were injured in the attack. None of my followers shot. On the contrary, followers of SK Khoda Totan opened fire. Among them was Farooq.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station Mojibur Rahman said there was a back and forth between the two sides of the BNP. At the moment the situation is calm.
