She added that her administration took a firm position when the visa cancellation occurred on August 13. She emphasized that the decision stems from political motives rather than other considerations, while noting that López Beltrán continues working locally within his home territory.

López Beltrán previously communicated on August 13 that his U.S. entry visa had been revoked. He directed a letter to United States President Donald Trump that attributed the measure to State Department officials.

During an August 14 press briefing, Sheinbaum noted that she had no knowledge of any related Fiscalía investigation at that time. She maintained that any formal inquiry would require concrete evidence rather than relying solely on a revoked visa.
