Clicks Communicator Gets RAM, Battery, and Android 17 Upgrades

The Clicks Communicator will ship with 12GB of RAM, a 4,350mAh lithium-ion battery, and Android 17 preinstalled when it launches in December 2026, according to reporting by Android Authority. Originally pitched as a secondary device featuring a physical QWERTY keyboard reminiscent of classic BlackBerry handsets, the Communicator has seen its specifications expand since its initial January announcement. According to Android Authority, the hardware changes include a RAM boost from the originally planned 8GB to 12GB. Clicks stated that the memory increase is intended to give the device extra breathing room when multitasking between productivity and communication applications, rather than positioning the handset as a mobile gaming or media streaming powerhouse.

Upgraded Battery Specs and Software Support Windows

Alongside the memory bump, the device now packs a 4,350mAh battery, replacing the 4,000mAh silicon-carbon cell originally disclosed earlier in the year. According to Android Authority, Clicks swapped the battery chemistry to lithium-ion to prioritize safety and reliability, noting that the final cell is rated for more than 800 charge cycles. For comparison, that capacity sits 50mAh higher than the battery found in Samsung’s Galaxy S26.

On the software side, the Communicator will launch with Android 17 out of the box instead of Android 16. Clicks has committed to providing three major Android OS updates alongside five years of security patches. While this represents an improvement over the two years of major upgrades initially promised, it remains shorter than the software support windows offered by major competitors. Samsung flagships currently receive seven years of OS updates, while Samsung’s mid-range devices receive six years.

Pricing Deadlines, Accessories, and Ecosystem Plans

Reservation holders can now configure their device colors, keyboard layouts, charging covers, and accessories. According to Android Authority, the introductory price of $499 is available exclusively through Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after which the retail price will increase to $649. Physical shipments are scheduled to begin in December 2026.

To support the device ecosystem, Clicks revealed a lineup of accompanying hardware accessories, including products from casemaker MNML. Additionally, the company introduced a Clicks Care extended warranty program providing two years of coverage for $129.99, alongside plans for an MVNO-style mobile service dubbed Clicks Mobile designed to deliver voice and data connectivity to the Communicator, though specific carrier details have not yet been released.
