Clintonville Books Opens on High Street
New Bookstore Brings Literary Charm to Clintonville
Clintonville, Ohio – Book lovers in Columbus have a new haven to explore. Clintonville Books, a charming new bookstore located at 3286 N. High St., opened its doors on Black Friday, inviting the community to browse its curated collection and inviting atmosphere.
The shop, situated just a stone’s throw from Ohio State University’s main campus, aims to be a welcoming space for students and avid readers alike. “We designed the bookstore with the community in mind, especially college students,” says Tracy Ramey, a Clintonville Books employee.
Owner Grant Sabatier emphasizes the shop’s unique book selection as a key differentiator. ”Our mixture of new, used, and rare books sets us apart and allows us to curate a great collection,” he explains.
Sabatier also prioritized creating a bright and inspiring atmosphere. “While I love sleepy, cluttered, dimly lit bookstores, I have a hard time seeing in them,” he admits.”I wanted to bring some brighter energy to Clintonville Books. I spent a lot of time designing the flow of the space to be airy and the lighting to feel more like an art gallery. I want the space to feel good, energizing, and inspiring.”
After a two-year search for the perfect location, Sabatier found a century-old building with classic charm, providing the ideal backdrop for his bookstore vision.
Clintonville Books plans to host a variety of community events, including book signings, readings, poetry slams, and even small acoustic shows. “We already have a couple of local authors slated to do some book signings,” Ramey shares, “and this is from picture books all the way through middle grade.”
The overwhelming community support on opening day was encouraging, but Sabatier stresses the importance of ongoing patronage for the bookstore’s success. “Everyone has been so supportive in the community and showed up when we opened,” he says. “The best way to support an self-reliant bookstore is to buy books from them.”
Ramey echoes this sentiment, expressing confidence in Clintonville’s embrace of the new shop. “Books are a novelty to some, and to others, their way of life,” he observes. “We just have to find the peopel that love books, and I think we found a great place in Clintonville.”
Sabatier hopes Clintonville Books will become a beloved community hub.”I hope the shop will be a space where everyone feels welcome and can find a book that interests them,” he says.
