The third day of the Chennai Test came to an end with Bangladesh struggling to save the match. The visitors are facing a huge target of 515 runs, the biggest unbeaten chase in Test history.
India declared their second innings four before the break, with Shubman Gill scoring an unbeaten 119 runs. Rishabh Pant also scored a Test century, his first in almost two years. The Indian wicket-keeper was seen having a lot of fun on the field due to the team’s dominant position.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, are struggling to survive. The team’s batting failure in the first innings has put them in a difficult position. The visitors will need a miracle to save the match, and it seems unlikely that they can achieve it without some heavy rain.
The Bangladesh captain, Shanto, is still at the crease, scoring 51 runs. Shakib Al Hasan is with him, but the team’s chances of survival are slim. The visitors will need to bat for two days to save the match, which seems like a daunting task.
The Indian spinners, led by Ravichandran Ashwin, have been causing problems for the Bangladesh batsmen. Ashwin took three wickets today, and the visitors will need to find a way to counter his spin to survive.
