Recently, the China Flower Association issued the “Notice on Solicitation of Group Standard Opinions on “Circulation and Trading Standards for Major Fresh Cut Flowers”.
The standard was led by Dounan Flower Industry Comprehensive Service Center, Chenggong District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, and was drafted and formulated by many universities and related enterprises. Based on the national and industry general quality standards, rose, carnation, lily, chrysanthemum were further included. The quality levels of five kinds of fresh cut flowers including Hydrangea and Hydrangea are classified according to the standard. At the same time, specific standards have been formulated for post-harvest processing, packaging, storage, transportation, wholesale, and retail of five kinds of fresh cut flower products.
It is understood that the standard aims to further promote the formation of the “Kunming Flowers” national standard system. The draft for comments will be publicized on the national group standards information platform for two months. It will be officially released after there are no objections.
At present, Dounan fresh cut flowers are exported to more than 50 countries and regions, including Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Russia, and Australia, and have ranked first in the country in terms of transaction volume, transaction value, number of transactions, and export value for 25 consecutive years. The 2023 Yunhua Industry Development White Paper shows that in 2023, Yunnan’s flower industry will develop rapidly, with a fresh-cut flower output of 18.97 billion, ranking first in the country, and the output value of the entire industry chain exceeding 100 billion yuan.
