The end of an era has arrived for one of social media’s most distinctive fan communities. Simone Cromer, the 59-year-old behind the viral Timothée Chalamet fan account Club Chalamet, announced on Instagram that she is stepping back from running the popular account, citing significant changes in the fandom that no longer align with her original passion for the actor.

Cromer, who has run the account since 2018 following Chalamet’s breakout role in Call Me by Your Name, explained in her Instagram post that she will no longer focus on promoting the actor as passionately as she has for the last few years. “Things have changed in this fandom in such a significant way that we also have to adjust to the changes and focus on other interests that simply bring us joy,” she wrote. She emphasized that while she will still post updates about Chalamet’s forthcoming releases — including the highly anticipated Dune 3 — her involvement will be markedly reduced.

“Once I don’t fully believe in it anymore, I have to recenter my focus on things I believe in and that make me happy,” Cromer stated, adding that an unspecified event from a year ago sparked her shift in feelings toward the project. “So much has changed from what we all initially signed up for that it doesn’t resemble what lured us here in the first place,” she noted, reflecting on the evolution of the fan community she helped cultivate.

Club Chalamet first gained widespread attention in 2023 when Cromer hosted a Twitter Spaces discussion about then-recently released photos of Chalamet and rumored girlfriend Kylie Jenner. Her now-famous questioning of whether the couple was truly together — since she had “never seen them at Olive Garden” — became a viral moment that propelled her into internet notoriety. Over time, her detailed writings on Chalamet across Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Substack transformed the account into a niche micro-celebrity phenomenon.

Since her virality in 2023, Cromer has been described by various publications as a “micro-celebrity” and “Timothée Chalamet’s most well-known stan.” Her influence extended beyond commentary. she is credited with helping to popularize the Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest of 2024. Her prominence led to a profile in The Wall Street Journal and the creation of a Wikipedia page documenting her role in online fan culture.

Cromer’s deep engagement with Chalamet’s career has spanned nearly a decade. Born on September 30, 1966, she grew up in Detroit, Michigan, where frequent visits to drive-in movie theatres with her family sparked her lifelong interest in film. She attended the Detroit College of Business in Warren before graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in psychology in 1996. As of 2025, she resides in Los Angeles, California, works in healthcare, and identifies as part of Generation X.

Her personal life has also intersected with public attention in recent years. Cromer’s home in Altadena was affected by the Eaton Fire in January 2025, an event she has referenced in past social media updates. Beyond her Chalamet-focused content, she has publicly expressed admiration for artists such as Emma Stone, Rage Against the Machine, and Pearl Jam, illustrating the broader cultural tastes that have long shaped her identity.

While Cromer’s departure from active fan promotion marks a significant moment in stan culture, it also underscores the evolving nature of online fandoms. Her decision to step back reflects a broader truth about digital communities: even the most devoted voices may eventually seek new directions when the original spark diminishes. For now, Club Chalamet will remain as an archive of one fan’s near-decade-long journey through the highs and nuances of celebrity admiration — a journey that, for its founder, has reached its natural conclusion.
