Pasadena,Calif. – Antoine Griezmann’s 87th-minute goal provided a late spark, but it wasn’t enough to propel Atlético Madrid into the knockout stage of the Club World Cup. The Spanish side defeated Botafogo 1-0 on Monday, yet the victory fell short of the three-goal margin needed to advance.
Griezmann’s left-footed strike, following a blocked shot from Ángel Correa, found the back of the net. However, Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 win over the Seattle Sounders ensured their progression alongside Botafogo from Group B. The Club World Cup saw intense competition, and Atlético Madrid‘s efforts, including Griezmann‘s goal, ultimately proved insufficient.
