Concerns are rising about slow ticket sales for the FIFA Club ‌World Cup,even​ wiht Lionel Messi and Inter Miami headlining the opening game.‍ FIFA declined to comment on the sales ⁤figures ⁤for the Inter miami versus ‌Al Ahly match at the Hard Rock stadium, which has a 65,000-seat capacity.

Reports indicate⁣ that Miami Dade College students were offered a deal: buy one⁣ ticket for $20 and receive four additional tickets free. Sources suggest this offer aims to fill seats with students who might ​not typically attend soccer games. The college is reportedly a ⁤FIFA partner.

A recent search on ticketmaster showed tickets ⁢still‍ available for the opening match, with the lowest price around £48. Initial prices in December started at £257.

Despite the reports, FIFA President Gianni Infantino remains optimistic. “I expect a​ full stadium,” Infantino saeid this⁣ week. “We will have an amazing⁤ atmosphere. Paris-St Germain’s opener against Atletico Madrid also shows strong sales, with the cheapest tickets around £60.

With reports suggesting stadium sections might be closed, the true picture ⁤of attendance will only emerge once the tournament begins. Fans from the U.S., Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Canada lead in ticket purchases, with the U.K. ranking 11th.

“It starts a new era of football, a new era of club football.A little bit⁣ like in 1930, the first World Cup started,” Infantino​ said, emphasizing the ‌historical significance of the event.

Infantino addressed criticisms regarding ticket pricing and promotions. “I’m a positive person generally, but⁤ they criticize FIFA if the prices are too high,​ then they criticize FIFA if⁣ the prices are too low… When ​I was a student and I didn’t have money,‌ I would have loved FIFA to come to me ⁣and say: ‘You want to come and watch a World Cup match?'”
