Mayor Emil Boc took to Facebook to express his pride in Bologa’s historic success, stating that the gold medal in judo at the Paralympic Games in Paris is a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of this young athlete.
Alexandru Bologa, an Honorary Citizen of Cluj-Napoca since 2022, has consistently demonstrated his prowess in judo, holding the top spot in the world ranking since 2019. His impressive medal collection includes wins in Tokyo (2020), Rio (2016), and various world and European championships.
Bologa’s remarkable achievements have earned him a special place in the history of Romanian sports. As the youngest judo medalist at the Paralympics and the first blind Romanian judo medalist, he serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and a source of pride for the community.
