CM Punk WWE Return: Night of Champions Confirmed?
CM Punk Set for WWE Night of Champions in Saudi arabia
Updated June 10, 2025
CM Punk is slated to appear at WWE’s Night of Champions event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on June 28, despite previous criticisms of the wrestling organization’s relationship with the country. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed the plans, noting they have been in place for months.
The upcoming appearance has sparked interest, given a 2020 tweet where Punk, then not affiliated with WWE, made disparaging remarks about WWE’s dealings in Saudi Arabia. Meltzer indicated that Punk’s current position has been understood internally for some time.
Meltzer clarified that punk’s participation was locked in months ago. He said that when Seth Rollins replaced Punk in an earlier promotional package, he was told, “Nope, he’s going.”
Punk is expected to challenge John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the event. Meltzer emphasized that any prior concerns Punk may have held have not recently been an issue.
“He could not go to Saudi Arabia/Night of Champions if he really wanted to not go,” Meltzer said.
Meltzer added, ”So it’s been known he’s going for months, probably all along. I don’t know if he ever voiced any issue with going at any point as he signed, but he hasn’t in months. I know that.”
What’s next
The WWE Night of Champions event on June 28 will reveal whether CM Punk’s return to Saudi Arabia marks a turning point in his relationship with the organization and its international ventures.
