The CNE has long been a⁣ place where love stories begin. ⁤”Every year ⁢we meet and hear from visitors ‍who tell us that they had their first date at the CNE or met their partners while working their summer job,” ‍shares Jane Matthews, ⁢CNE Marketing Director. “We even know of a few vendors, some who have been married for more than 50 years, who first met and fell in love at the CNE.” With a ⁤history of proposals happening ⁤at the beloved exhibition, the CNE decided it was time to take it ⁢a step further. “We’ve had wedding proposals at the CNE, so this year we⁤ thought, why not a wedding ceremony?!” Matthews exclaims.

The “Marriage on the Midway” contest officially opens ⁣today, inviting Ontario couples to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime prospect.‍ The winning couple will exchange vows on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the CNE, creating a picture-perfect moment framed by the bright lights and festive energy of the Midway.

Sweet ‍Treats and Captured Moments

To ⁢make the festivity even sweeter, the newlyweds will be treated to a custom wedding cake designed by a local bakery, a featured entry from the CNE’s inaugural cake decorating competition.⁣ And to ensure ⁣every precious moment is preserved, an official wedding photographer will be on hand to⁤ capture everything from the ceremony to the post-vows joyride.

A Celebration ‍for Two, Plus Twenty!

The festivities don’t stop at the ⁤altar. The winning couple and up to 20 guests will receive day passes with unlimited rides, allowing them to ⁢relive the magic of ‍the Midway together.To indulge in ⁤classic CNE eats, they’ll⁣ also ⁢enjoy $500 in food vouchers, perfect for sharing Tiny Tom’s doughnuts, ⁢ice cream waffle sandwiches, and all the other beloved fairground ⁣favourites.
