Local officials have addressed the unfolding situation as investigators continue to examine the scene. Sinn Féin councillor Deirdre Varsani, who serves as chairwoman of Mid Ulster District Council, spoke to reporters regarding the incident.

Community members and family members have gathered near the police cordon, where a strong emergency presence remains active. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the Lisnahull Road area while detectives and forensic teams carry out their work. Police have not released the identities of the deceased man or the injured child.
