Storm Chandra has not cleared,‍ is still over Ireland and will move up along the west⁤ of Ireland ⁣later‌ today, saeid Met Éireann‍ forecaster Linda⁢ Hughes.

“We are still going to see some very strong⁢ winds as the storm does move up… in some areas the winds will be light, towards the center of it.

“But still some very strong winds, particularly around the coasts, there will be some strong gales in places,” she ‌said.

Ms Hughes added: “People are warned to stay away ⁣from coastal areas until the storm has cleared.”

She said ‌there are some very heavy showers following behind.

“We are still not over the worst of it. There will be some more rainfall. The ground is saturated, there is nowhere for the rain to go,” she said.

“Any further rainfall on top of what we ⁣had, could cause⁢ some further issues.”

Storm Chandra brings widespread disruption

Heavy rain and ⁤winds associated with Storm Chandra caused widespread disruption across the country‌ today with river flooding, travel disruption and power ⁣outages⁣ reported⁤ in many parts.

Ms‌ Hughes ⁤said that smaller rivers and tributaries, such as the River Dodder, which‌ flooded earlier, are “receding ‍quickly”.

The forecaster ‌said it is an ‌improving situation there, with incidents where ⁤there is a‍ lot ‌of ‌surface water also ‌improving as the rain clears.

speaking on RTÉ’s News at One, Ms Hughes said: “There are still some ‌heavy showers, but the bulk of the overnight rain has cleared away.”

However, she said areas in the south-east, such as the River Slaney, which burst its banks, is a “slower river to⁢ respond”.

“Areas such as the south-east where there was ⁢significant flooding also, the impact will be felt there for ‍longer,” she said.

“So, there is going ‍to be an elevated risk of ‍flooding, particularly in parts of the south-east, Wednesday into thursday and even beyond that, as the rivers will be very slow to respond; ⁣they are actually still rising as ‌we speak.

Enniscorthy in⁣ Co Wexford‌ was among the towns‍ hit by the storm as the River Slaney burst its banks.

fine Gael Senator Cathal Byrne, who‍ is based in Enniscorthy, said that the River⁤ Slaney started to burst‌ its banks at about 4am⁣ which resulted in ⁢devastating floods.

Speaking on RTÉ’s News at One‌ programme, he said that this was yet another flooding event, and that there has been far ⁢too many ⁣in the last 26 years with 350 properties in the affected area.

He said that it is having a massive impact, with businesses and schools closed and ⁣residents on the Island‌ Road having their homes flooded.

He‍ said ‌that the enniscorthy Flood Scheme has not been delivered, and ⁢needs to be looked at seriously.

he added that ⁣€55m ‍was allocated for the scheme in 2014 but that it has not been ‌possible to‌ get planning permission.

“It’s not good enough and residents⁣ are deeply frustrated. Every time it starts to rain, they get worried,” Mr Byrne explained.

The provided code snippet⁢ is a JavaScript script tag that embeds a Twitter widget on a⁤ webpage. This‌ widget allows users to⁣ interact with twitter content, such as viewing tweets, timelines, and user profiles, directly within the host website.

Functionality

The script, ⁤hosted⁢ on platform.twitter.com, dynamically loads Twitter’s JavaScript library. This‌ library‍ than handles the rendering ⁢and functionality ⁢of the Twitter widget. The⁢ async ‍attribute ensures the script loads⁤ in the background without blocking the page’s rendering. The charset="utf-8" attribute specifies the character encoding for the script.

As of January 27, 2026, at 16:28:27, Twitter (now known as X) continues to offer similar widget embedding options for website integration. Twitter/X‌ Developer Documentation details current widget ‍options and implementation guidelines.

security ⁤Considerations

Embedding third-party scripts, like the Twitter‍ widget, introduces potential security risks. These risks include ⁤cross-site scripting (XSS)⁢ vulnerabilities and privacy concerns related to‌ data tracking.Website administrators should carefully consider these risks ‌and implement appropriate security measures, such as Content Security Policy (CSP), to⁤ mitigate them. The OWASP Top Ten ⁣ lists common web application⁣ security risks, including XSS.

impact of‌ X Corp. Ownership

Since its acquisition by⁢ Elon Musk and rebranding ⁢to X, ⁢the platform has undergone significant changes. These changes have included alterations to the API, verification systems, and‌ content moderation policies. These changes may affect the functionality and appearance of embedded Twitter widgets. As of January 27, 2026, X continues to support widget embedding, but developers should ‍regularly⁤ check the ‍ X Developer Portal for updates and potential breaking changes. Reuters reported on the rebranding to X in July 2023, marking a significant shift in the platform’s identity.

Option Social ⁤Media Widgets

Website owners have‍ alternative options for embedding social media content. ‍Platforms ⁤like Facebook, instagram, and LinkedIn also provide widget ⁤embedding tools.
