The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) GB have been appointed as the Official Soft Drinks Partners for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The agreement also establishes the brands as an Official Partner of Team Scotland.

The partnership was announced on April 2, 2026, at CCEP’s manufacturing facility in East Kilbride. The site has been operational for more than 60 years and served as the backdrop for the announcement involving key leadership from both the organizing committee and the bottling partner.

Official Brand Designations

As part of the sponsorship deal, three specific brands have been designated for official roles during the event. Coca-Cola Zero Sugar will serve as the Official Soft Drink, Powerade will be the Official Sports Drink and Smartwater will be the Official Water provider.

Official Brand Designations

These products will be supplied across the event’s venues to support both athletes and spectators. Coca-Cola will serve as the sixth second-tier official partner for the Games.

Glasgow 2026 Event Overview

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026. The event will be hosted across four venues in Glasgow.

The Games are expected to feature 3,000 athletes representing 74 nations and territories. The competition program consists of 10 sports and six Para sports.

The event returns to Scotland for the first time since 2014. The Games were previously allocated to Victoria, Australia, but were moved to Glasgow after financial issues forced the Australian state to withdraw last year.

Sustainability and Environmental Commitments

A significant portion of the partnership focuses on the Games’ ambition to be greener. CCEP is collaborating with the environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful on a project to clean up riverbanks near the sports venues located by the River Clyde.

CCEP will provide both funding and volunteer support for these cleanup efforts. The waste collected during these initiatives will contribute to the Royal Commonwealth Society’s Commonwealth Clean Oceans Plastics Campaign.

The Commonwealth Clean Oceans Plastics Campaign has been active across all 74 Commonwealth nations and territories as part of the King’s Baton Relay. Its primary mission is to prevent one million pieces of plastic from entering Commonwealth waterways before the Games begin.

CCEP will implement recyclable packaging at the event venues. This includes the use of 500ml bottles manufactured from 100% recycled plastic.

We’re proud to welcome back one of the world’s most iconic brands to the Commonwealth Games sponsor family. Coca-Cola joins us with a wealth of experience in elevating spectator experience at major events, while also encouraging behaviour change when it comes to sustainability, which supports our ambition to deliver a greener Games.

Partnership and Commercial Context

The announcement at the East Kilbride site included several key figures. Attendees included Phil Batty OBE, CEO of Glasgow 2026; Jon Doig OBE, Chief Executive of Team Scotland; Seamus Kerrigan, CCEP East Kilbride Site Director; and Paul Hiskens, CCEP Head of Partnerships.

Scottish athlete Eilidh Gorrell, who represented Team Scotland at the Birmingham 2022 Games, also participated in the tour of the local manufacturing operations.

This agreement marks a return for CCEP, which previously served as the Official Soft Drink Provider for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The company’s involvement underscores a continued presence in major UK sporting events.

Coca-Cola joins other recent commercial partners secured by the organizing committee. In February 2026, the Chinese electric vehicle company BYD was named as the official car partner, and the UK-based logistics provider Corporate and Sporting Events was partnered with the committee last month.
