Cocaine Haul Seized: Police Nab Suspect in High-Stakes Bust

A 38-year-old man was arrested at kilometer 3 of the Huila road.

Every day the Popayán Metropolitan Police arrest criminals, whether for drug trafficking, fraud, vehicle theft, theft from residences, homicides and other crimes, which show that crime has taken over the city.

In the last few hours, the police organization managed to catch in flagrante delicto a 38-year-old man, originally from the department of Caquetá, who was involved in the crime of trafficking in people, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.

The capture took place at an observation point, at kilometer 3 of the road that leads from Popayán to the department of Huila. At that location, the uniformed officers found a subject in a suspicious attitude while driving a motorcycle.

During the search procedure, three packages were found in his possession containing a beige powdery substance, with characteristics similar to coca base, as well as a significant amount of cash.

A total of 2,419 grams of coca base, with an approximate value of $6,700,000, along with $5,500,000 in cash, were seized, in addition to the motorcycle the person in question was traveling on.

After treatment, the prisoner was informed of his rights and transferred to the Immediate Response Unit (URI), remaining available to the competent authorities.
