Coco Gauff Wins French Open Title in Thrilling Comeback

Coco Gauff, the American second seed, secured her first French Open singles title after battling back to defeat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a captivating final. The 21-year-old triumphed 6-7 (5-7),6-2,6-4 in a tense match against Sabalenka.
This victory marks Gauff’s second Grand Slam singles title, adding to her US Open win in 2023, where she also defeated Sabalenka.The match, played in challenging windy conditions, saw both players struggle with their serves early on.
Gauff overcame a shaky start, where she initially trailed by a double break. She found her rhythm adn capitalized on errors from Sabalenka, 27, of Belarus, to seize control of the match. The two players exchanged 12 breaks in the first two sets.
In the deciding set, Gauff quickly gained a break and maintained her composure to serve out the victory. She clinched the championship on her second match point, collapsing onto the clay in party as Sabalenka’s forehand sailed wide.
“I honestly didn’t think I could do it,” Gauff said during the trophy presentation.
Sabalenka, who was also vying for her first Roland Garros title, acknowledged Gauff’s superior performance. “This hurts so much. Congratulations to Coco – she was a better player than me,” she said.
Gauff’s parents, Candi and Corey, celebrated enthusiastically in the stands as Gauff shared a hug with Sabalenka before celebrating with her family.

With this French Open victory, Gauff solidifies her position as one of the top players in women’s tennis. She is expected to compete at Wimbledon next, aiming for another Grand Slam title.
