Verstappen shatters Records at Monza, Colapinto to Start Higher After Hadjar’s Penalty
Monza, Italy – Max Verstappen, the reigning Formula 1 world champion, delivered a stunning performance at the Italy Grand Prix qualifying session, securing pole position and etching his name into the record books. The Red Bull driver clocked the fastest lap in Formula 1 history at an average speed of 264.681 km/h, a testament to his skill and the car’s capabilities.
“This season GPs have been a bit more complex for us, but we will give everything,” Verstappen saeid after his record-breaking run.Verstappen’s pole position marks his first as the British Grand Prix in early July, overcoming the strong challenge from McLaren. Lando Norris, currently second in the World Championship standings, will start alongside Verstappen on the front row, finishing just 0.077 seconds behind. Oscar Piastri, the World Cup leader, will start on the second row with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Meanwhile, Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, who qualified 18th, will gain a position on the starting grid due to a penalty incurred by RB driver Isack Hadjar. Hadjar,who achieved his first podium finish recently,qualified 16th but will start from the pit lane after his team replaced his car’s power unit. This moves colapinto up to 17th for the race.
