Several coaches find themselves in situations ripe for meaningful movement. Bret Bielema, currently ranked 23rd after previously holding the 36th spot, leads an Illinois team with College Football Playoff aspirations. Quarterback Luke Altmyer returns to lead the offence, while the defense boasts standouts like Gabe Jacas and Miles Scott. A manageable schedule could pave the way for a 10-win season and a playoff berth.
Fran Brown of Syracuse, ranked 46th after starting at 67th, exceeded expectations in his debut season, guiding the Orange to their first 10-win season since 2018.
