Colombia Secures First Win in ⁤Doubles Match

In the Davis Cup World Group I doubles ‍match between Japan and⁤ Colombia, ⁤held at the Ariake ⁤Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki and Yosuke Watanuki​ lost to Colombia’s Nicolas Barrientos and Cristian Rodriguez. ​The Colombian duo won⁢ the match 7-6 (4), 2-6, 3-6, securing their first win in ⁤the tournament.

The match lasted 2 hours and 24 minutes. Colombia played​ as scheduled,‌ but ‌Japan changed Watanuki’s ⁢partner from Kei Nishikori⁢ to Mochizuki.⁤ Mochizuki and Watanuki played doubles for the⁤ first time since February 2022, but‍ their record was 1 win, 2 ⁢losses.

Tournament Format

The Davis Cup has ‌changed ⁤to a new format since 2019, developed with the cooperation of the International Tennis Federation⁢ (ITF) and Cosmos.
