The tournament’s early rounds will be played this week, with the Great 8 and Final Four games also taking place at the Denver Coliseum. Ticket prices for the championship games range from $12 for senior and child/student tickets to $20 for reserved seating, according to information from the Denver Coliseum.
Among the girls’ teams, Air Academy has emerged as a strong contender, securing the sixth seed in the 5A bracket. The Kadets finished the regular season with a 19-4 record, demonstrating a late-season surge with wins in five of their final six games. Kinley Asp, a key player for Air Academy, currently ranks seventh in the state with an average of 25.2 points per game, alongside 6.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 4.7 steals.
Air Academy will be looking to improve upon their 2025 performance, where they finished as runners-up. A championship win this year would mark their first basketball title since 2012.
On the boys’ side, Cheyenne Mountain earned the fifth seed in the 5A bracket after a successful 19-4 regular season. The Red-Tailed Hawks closed out the season strongly, winning 11 of their last 12 contests. Junior Alex Treglia leads the team in scoring, averaging 20.7 points per game.
Cheyenne Mountain is aiming for its first state title in program history, building on what has been their best regular season since 2019-20, when the team achieved a 21-2 record.
