Xavier payne, a highly touted football prospect from central New York and currently at Miami Edison High school, has completed a busy month of official visits. His recent midweek trip to Colorado has given him much to consider regarding his college football recruiting future.
Payne, a longtime Florida State seminoles commit, found Coach Prime’s program in Boulder particularly appealing. The offensive lineman spent quality time with the Colorado coaching staff, evaluating their plans for his growth and integration into the team. This official visit marked Payne’s first experience in Boulder.
“It was great,” Payne said. “The best part was being to sit down with the offensive line coaches and truly building that connection while getting to see their plan for me and how I fit into the program.”
Payne also noted the extensive NFL experience within the Colorado coaching ranks.”As I was sitting in the room it really hit me how much NFL experience is on the staff.So not only do they know how to get there because they did it, but also because they have sent so many in their years of coaching,” he said.
According to Payne, the visit provided important food for thought. ”The place has definitely given me some things to think about,” Payne said.”I meshed really well there. Don’t count them out of my recruitment.”
Adding to the intrigue, Payne connected with Jordan Seaton, a prominent player for the Buffaloes. The two discussed football strategy, bonding over their shared passion for the game. Seaton showed Payne how Colorado might utilize his versatile blocking skills.
“Me and Seaton actually got on the board for a little and compared my high school plays and showed me how they would run it,” he said. “We both love the game deeply and love talking football. Like him sitting with me wasn’t as of the coaches,he had just popped up in the offensive line room to hang a poster up and we just hit it off.”
Colorado coaches envision Payne primarily as a tackle, focusing on refining his technique to excel at that position. They showed him specific drills designed to address those areas before he arrives on campus.
