⁣ When ⁢the colorado Energy Office presented a‍ series of pressing⁣ energy-related challenges, Googlers at the Boulder office quickly mobilized too find a solution.This initiative culminated in the frist-ever‍ Colorado Impact Hackathon, hosted by Google Boulder on November 5th, 2023.

Bridging the⁢ Gap‍ Between Students and State Policy

The hackathon brought together over 70 students-representing the state’s top business and engineering talent-with goverment experts ⁢to collaboratively “hack” solutions to timely and local energy problems. Participants hailed from the ‍ University of⁣ Colorado Boulder.

The four challenges presented by the colorado Energy office focused on critical areas: climate workforce shortages, increasing electric vehicle (EV) adoption, expanding⁤ rural EV charging infrastructure, and incentivizing home ‍energy upgrades.

⁢Colorado Governor Jared Polis⁣ actively participated in the event, offering students direct insight into the state’s energy⁣ policy and broader innovation landscape.
