Dempsey’s selection for the prestigious Schwarzman Scholars program will see him pursue a fully funded master’s degree in global affairs at Tsinghua University. The program, founded by Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, is designed to cultivate future leaders with a focus on international relations, politics, and business. He learned of his acceptance while still with his teammates, making it “one of the most special moments of my life,” according to Dempsey.

He recalls growing up attending CU Buffs games, even possessing a photograph of himself at six months old clad in Colorado gear, highlighting a lifelong affinity for the university. “I grew up going to games ever since I was little,” he said. “I have a picture of myself, like, 6 months old in full CU Buffs gear, so it’s a family thing.”
