The Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) released the state’s first comprehensive policy roadmap for the creative sector. They developed this framework with input from over 800 arts advocates and creative workers. Christin Crampton Day: Thank you for having me. The “Creative Dialogues” initiative was born out of a recognition that the arts and culture sector is facing meaningful challenges, particularly in the wake of the pandemic. We wanted to ensure that all voices in the creative community were heard, so we conducted surveys, interviews, and listening sessions to gather insights. The response was overwhelming, reflecting a deep commitment to nurturing and advancing Colorado’s vibrant arts scene.

Christin Crampton Day: From the input we received, we identified four main priorities that emerged for fostering a creatively engaged culture in Colorado: first, thriving local arts communities; second, a strong creative economy; third, livability for creative workers; and fourth, sustaining arts learning. Each of these areas represents critical pillars that will support and uplift the entire sector.

Christin Crampton Day: This framework serves as a blueprint for advocacy. We plan to leverage it to inform our legislative agendas and guide local advocacy efforts. We will be releasing a specific legislative agenda in the coming weeks that addresses these priorities directly at the General assembly. Our goal is to foster a coordinated and fair approach to advocating for these essential issues.

Christin Crampton Day: Absolutely. We are thrilled to be collaborating with Colorado Creative Industries on a strategic plan that is due in early 2025.This partnership extends to local arts agencies, foundations, chambers of commerce, and creative districts as well. Implementation is key, and by working together, we can create a robust network that supports the arts ecosystem throughout Colorado.

Christin crampton Day: My vision is one where all artists, creatives, and communities across Colorado can flourish. We want to build an inclusive environment that values and nurtures creativity. by ensuring our framework addresses the needs of local arts communities and supports a strong creative economy, we can make significant strides toward that future.
