COLUMBUS – Following their 3-0 victory over the Richmond Kickers on April 15 in the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32, the Columbus Crew have advanced to face the winner of the D.C. United and One Knoxville SC matchup in the Round of 16, scheduled for April 28 or 29, 2026.
The Crew dominated possession throughout the match, holding 70.4% of the ball compared to Richmond’s 29.6%, and outshot the Kickers 26 to 8, with 11 shots on target versus Richmond’s two. Hugo Picard opened the scoring in the 41st minute with an assist from Andrés Herrera, then doubled the lead in the 63rd minute. Jamal Thiaré added the final goal in the 73rd minute, breaking through on a counterattack to finish past goalkeeper Yann Fillion.
