The Columbus Division of Police has released redacted body camera footage showing the events that led to the fatal shooting of a man by officers on March 31, 2026. The incident occurred outside a private bar on the north side of the city.
The shooting took place at Moose Lodge 1427, located at 1970 Schrock Road. Police have identified the man killed in the confrontation as 38-year-old Robert Gordon.
Disturbance at Moose Lodge 1427
According to police reports, public safety dispatchers received an initial call around 10 p.m. On March 31, 2026, regarding a disturbance at the private club. The reports indicated that a man was attempting to enter the facility despite not being a member.

This gentleman came in, hit the buzzer. Our doorman asked him, ‘Are you a member?’ He goes, ‘No, I just wanna drink,’ forced his way in, went up to the bar,
Because membership is required for entry, staff members at the lodge asked Gordon to leave the premises. The situation escalated as Gordon moved toward the exit.
Over the following 20 minutes, additional calls were placed to emergency services. Callers reported that the man was armed with a gun, had fired a shot
outside the building, and was pointing a gun at everybody
.
Police Response and Body Camera Evidence
Body camera footage released by the Columbus Division of Police shows officers arriving at the scene. The video captures Robert Gordon walking around the parking lot outside the bar.
Police stated that Gordon had a gun pointed at his own head during this period. The footage shows multiple officers instructing Gordon to drop the weapon.
After several seconds, the video shows Gordon walking back toward the building. Officers are heard in the recording stating that Gordon was moving toward a group of people standing around the corner of the structure.
The confrontation ended when officers opened fire on Gordon.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is currently leading the investigation into the shooting.
