The Columbus Queerscendos, a youth ensemble operating under the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus, will host a Halloween concert titled Dead Air on Oct. 31 at Stonewall Columbus.
Dead Air Concert Details
The performance draws direct inspiration from Welcome to Night Vale, a fictional community radio podcast set in a desert town known for urban legends, conspiracy theories, and paranormal occurrences. Gabriel Gonzales, the assistant artistic director for the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus and director of the youth ensemble, described the event as a blend of spooky storytelling and Halloween music.
“Dead Air is kind of what you’d get if Welcome to Night Vale took place in a haunted house in the middle of the woods,” said CGMC’s Assistant Artistic Director and Youth Ensemble Director Gabriel Gonzales. “It’s spooky, it’s weird, and it’s definitely a little ridiculous in the best way.”
The concert will feature a mix of creepy stories, humorous moments, and seasonal songs. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive in costume for the holiday event.
