National Video Conference Emphasizes Work Safety and Forest Fire Prevention
The National Video Conference on Work Safety and Forest and Grassland Fire Prevention and Extinguishing in Autumn and Winter was held in Beijing on September 24, 2024. Zhang Guoqing, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Wang Xiaohong, Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, presided over the meeting.
The meeting emphasized the importance of thoroughly implementing the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. It also highlighted the need to implement the requirements of Premier Li Qiang and do a good job in work safety and forest and grassland fire prevention and extinguishing with a strong problem orientation and strong measures. The meeting stressed the need to resolutely prevent and curb the occurrence of major fire accidents.
The meeting stressed that promoting the three-year action plan to address the root causes of production safety is crucial. This includes continuing to deepen the safety rectification of the entire chain of “one thing” such as gas and electric bicycles, vigorously promoting the implementation of the eight hard measures for mine safety, and further strengthening the safety supervision of hazardous chemicals, construction operations, and insulation materials. The meeting also emphasized the importance of striving to open up the “life channel” for emergency escape and focusing on improving the grassroots fire safety supervision capabilities.
The meeting highlighted the need to strictly carry out safety production assessments and inspections, and to use standard upgrades to promote product and project quality and intrinsic safety. This will help to effectively build a solid grassroots foundation for safety production. The meeting also stressed the importance of strictly investigating and rectifying major safety hazards.
In terms of forest and grassland fire prevention, the meeting emphasized the need to prioritize prevention, closely monitor fire source control and people’s defense, and implement forest and grassland fire prevention responsibilities and measures at the grassroots level to minimize fire risks. The meeting also stressed the importance of focusing on early detection, rapid disposal, and prevention of re-ignition, strengthening the response and disposal of the entire fire process and on-site safety control, and ensuring the safety of the people and firefighters.
The meeting concluded by emphasizing the need to build a strong organizational command system, speed up the filling of shortcomings, and continuously enhance the comprehensive prevention and control capabilities of forest and grassland fires.
