[Comiket Beautiful Girl Cosplayer]”I’m usually an idol” Takanashi Rui, who wanted to be Haruhi Suzumiya since she was a child | ENTAME next – Idol information comprehensive news site
From August 11th to 12th, the world’s largest doujinshi convention, Comic Market 104 (hereafter “Comiket”), was held at the Tokyo Big Sight in Ariake. The 104th Comiket, which had no limit on the number of attendees, attracted approximately 260,000 visitors over the two days. This time, “ENTAME next” interviewed some cosplayers who attracted attention at the venue that day, and also posed for some exclusive photos.

This time we spoke to Takanashi Rui, who was cosplaying as Haruhi Suzumiya from Nagaru Tanigawa’s light novel “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.” She is a member of the idol group #Babababambi, which recently had a successful solo concert at Nippon Budokan, and she loves anime and cosplay. We spoke to Takanashi about her thoughts on cosplay and her future goals.
–How many times have you participated in Comiket?
This is my second time. The last time I participated was at Winter Comiket (Comiket held in winter) before the COVID-19 pandemic, where I cosplayed as Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura (a manga by CLAMP). Before I became an idol, I lived in Kansai, so I couldn’t easily go to Comiket during Obon or the New Year holidays. Now that I’ve moved to Tokyo and the COVID-19 restrictions have finally eased, I thought it was about time I tried cosplaying, so I participated!
–Please tell us what made you decide to cosplay as Haruhi.
Ever since I was in elementary school, I loved anime, and I was especially hooked on “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.” At the same time, I was also interested in cosplay, and I thought, “I want to cosplay as Haruhi one day!” That’s what got me started.
–Did you never cosplay back then?
I actually wanted to try cosplay, but I was worried that my parents, who don’t watch anime, wouldn’t understand, and I was also embarrassed, so I couldn’t say, “I want to cosplay.” But I wanted to wear Haruhi’s headband, so I bought the materials at the 100 yen shop and made one myself. Wearing the headband secretly at home was the first time I ever cosplayed.
How did you prepare your outfit today?
I searched for and prepared a costume from the official merchandise section of “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.” In fact, the headband is handmade.
–So you made it yourself! What were the points you paid particular attention to when designing the headband?
Now that I’ve grown up a bit since then, I went to a craft store instead of a 100-yen shop to look for the perfect ribbon. I had fun searching through hundreds of different types, comparing them with the images in the original Haruhi-chan manga.
–If you had the chance to cosplay next time, what would you like to cosplay as?
It’s hard to decide. But I would like to cosplay as my favorite Vtubers from “HoloLive” (Vtuber agency), Todoroki Hajime-chan and Sakura Miko-chan.
