Jesse Sullivan Advocates for Transgender Community Through Online Support
Updated june 29, 2025
TikTok star Jesse Sullivan, father to Arlo and twins Locket and Poetry with fiancee Francesca Farago, suggests that young transgender individuals seek support in online communities. Sullivan emphasizes the importance of finding a safe space, notably given current societal challenges.
Sullivan believes that today’s climate presents unique difficulties for transgender individuals.”if I would have came out as trans maybe, like, 10 years ago, I honestly don’t think I would have been getting the hate I get now,” Sullivan said.
Due to these concerns, Sullivan hesitates to advise young people to come out to their parents directly. “I can’t really tell a young person, ‘You should just come out to your parents.’ I don’t think it’s a safe thing to say. I think we live in a world where that could end in harm,” Sullivan stated.
Rather, Sullivan recommends leveraging the internet to find supportive networks. “We live in a world where you can literally find a community on your phone, on your laptop or on your iPad. And that’s how I started,” Sullivan noted. “There’s communities everywhere, and there’s people that will support and love you. And that’s going to be the best way to come out if you don’t feel like you have a safe space.”
What’s next
Sullivan plans to continue advocating for transgender youth and promoting the importance of online communities as safe spaces for self-discovery and support.
