The new branch will be located at 1000 E. hickman Road in Waukee, a rapidly developing corridor. The 4,500-square-foot facility will feature drive-thru lanes, modern banking technology, and spaces for financial counseling. construction is expected to be completed by late 2026.
According to a press release from Community Choice, the Waukee location is a strategic move to better serve its existing members and attract new customers in the expanding western suburbs. The credit union cited Waukee’s population growth – increasing 68.8% from 2010 to 2020 according to the U.S. Census Bureau – as a key factor in the decision.
Community Choice’s Growth strategy
Community Choice Credit union is actively expanding its footprint across Iowa. This Waukee branch represents part of a larger, multi-year growth plan.
In November 2023, Community Choice announced a merger with DuTrac Community Credit Union, significantly increasing its asset size and member base. The combined entity now holds over $1.2 billion in assets and serves more than 100,000 members. Details of the merger are available on the Community Choice Credit union website. The credit union also recently opened a new branch in Ankeny in October 2025,demonstrating its commitment to serving the Des Moines area.

The project will create approximately 10-15 new jobs during construction and 8-10 permanent positions at the branch. Waukee Mayor Patrick Hargrove stated in a City of Waukee press release that the credit union’s investment ”demonstrates confidence in Waukee’s continued growth and prosperity.” The City of Waukee’s economic advancement strategy, outlined in their Economic development plan, prioritizes attracting financial institutions to support local businesses and residents.
