Community Rallies to Save Howell Nature Center Amid Financial Crisis
Howell Nature Center’s Fundraising Success
Howell Nature Center in Michigan faced financial difficulties due to rising costs and decreased donations. They previously closed their Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic, which helped 2,000 animals yearly.
After the center’s struggles were reported, donations surged. On a single day, they raised $48,000 from 824 supporters. Now, they are just $10,000 from their end-of-year goal of $100,000.
CEO Tina Bruce expressed hope, stating, “Every little bit makes a huge difference.” The Howell community’s support showed the power of local involvement. Business owner Lauren Deaven noted the quick response reflected the community’s commitment.
To express gratitude, the nature center will waive admission fees this Saturday. They plan to rehire staff and reopen the rehabilitation clinic by the end of the week. The center encourages ongoing support through donations and upcoming events, including a Christmas tree sale starting November 29.
