Competitor Response After Million Investment: Can’t Afford

Competitor Response After Million Investment: Can’t Afford

August 21, 2025 David Thompson - Sports Editor Sports

A new “weapon” in search of success is in place.

– A substitute that is great for us, says Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen to TV 2.

A roller skating mill placed in a custom -made hanger followed the team during the Sandnes collection.

When the storm “Floris” ravaged Western Norway, several of the stars pulled to the trailer.

Previously, profiles such as Ole Einar Bjørndalen and Johannes Thingnes Bø have often trained on their own roller skates.

Now the new grin will be included in collections and runs to Norway’s greatest hope. The planning to realize the Mølledømmen started already three years ago.

Sports Manager in the Norwegian Biathlon Association, Per Arne Botnan, estimates the cost of between 1.3 and 1.4 million Norwegian kroner. The Olympics take parts of the bill.

– It doesn’t go beyond anything else in our sporting efforts, says Botnan.

– It’s expensive, yes, admits Endre Strømsheim.

– Could you spend the money on other things?

– I think all the funds that go directly to training are well spent money in top sports.

During the Blink Festival, several profiles from other countries are present. The new ski mill has been clearly visible at the Melshei plant.

– I hope others will be envious. Now we have something no one else has. We believe that this will make us better, says Botnan.

– It is noticed. I don’t think it will take long for the Germans and the French have similar, says June Arnekleiv.

Disappeared from the limelight: – much doubt and fear

Last season, for the first time since 2017, Norway was not the best nation in the men’s or women’s class.

Vebjørn Sørum became the first to carry out an intensive session on the mill, which can be used for both roller skates and running.

– I think the French think, “Why haven’t we thought about it?”. I haven’t talked to them about it, but I expect the reason is that they think it is uncomfortable. That they are frightened. I expect that. They know that a roller skating mill is good, says Sørum.

– Pushes!

What the French stars mean, of course TV 2 had to get to the bottom.

Both Émilien Jacquelin and Éric Perrot – two of the country’s foremost medal anchors – confirm that they have brought with them Norway’s freshest procurement.

– Of course I’ve seen it every day! exclaims Jaquelin.

– I asked Siegfried (Mazet, French shooter for Norway, journ. Note) if they are going to use it this winter. They said, “Maybe, we don’t know.” Of course they know! It’s nice that they put it in the arena. I don’t know if it was to show you the mill.

– Sørum thinks you are a little frightened?

– In France, we do not have as good snow conditions as before. Maybe we should have something like that to continue exercising well. In Norway, everything is about biathlon. In France it is different. In any case, we will continue to work to be the best this winter too, says Jaquelin.

Clear message from cross -country profile

Rackmate Perrot seemed most concerned that the Norwegian biathlon boys shone with their absence on Wednesday’s backhill race at the bottom of the Lysefjord.

– They are little boys. They dare not come up here, he says jokingly.

For the sake of order: The Norwegians were starting during both competitions in Sandnes on Friday and Saturday.

About the mill, says the French-Norwegian-Ski Squader the following:

– It’s cool! We can’t afford, so we have to try another solution to beat them.

MOTBAKKESIALIST and cross -country skier, Simen Hegstad Krüger, had not brought with him the fresh investment, but has the following comment:

-It has become popular to have such mills, it seems that you have forgotten that it works fine to work out, says Lysebotn Opp-winner and continues:

– I use a mill occasionally, but I do not feel so dependent on the fact that I feel it is an investment that is necessary to do. But they should be allowed to spend money on a mill if they want.
