Trailer Trouble in Tuxedo Row: Luxury Neighbors Fed Up with Eyesore RVs in Upscale Vancouver Neighborhood

Trailer Trouble in Tuxedo Row: Luxury Neighbors Fed Up with Eyesore RVs in Upscale Vancouver Neighborhood

August 31, 2024 Catherine Williams Entertainment

Some residents of Vancouver’s Westside neighborhood are complaining about trailers parked on their streets, which they say violate city bylaws.

The vehicles are parked on Camosun Street and 28th Avenue in Dunbar, and are powered by extension cords from a $4.4 million home.

Neighbor Sharvain said the vehicle had been there for years and no enforcement action had been taken despite complaints.

“They’re still there. They’re not moving. The city isn’t coming,” she said.

The bylaw could affect hundreds of RV residents on Vancouver Island.

Levin said the vehicles were angering neighbors, making it more difficult to access an area already struggling with construction and traffic congestion.

“I’m really curious if they run Airbnb or VRBO. It’s hard to say. It’s close to a college, so I don’t know if they rent it out to students for a year,” she said.

The City of Vancouver said it issued two tickets at the scene a few days ago, but the vehicles are still at the scene.

Global News knocked on the trailer door, but no one opened it.

However, the owner insisted that the trailer was used only for personal camping purposes.

“I hope they go away. I think that’s fair,” Levin said.

“I hope (the city) will do its part.”

City officials said if the owner doesn’t pull the trailer over first, it could end up being towed.
