Compton Immigration Raid: Military Vehicle used, Family Detained
A Compton neighborhood witnessed a surprising sight on a recent Monday afternoon: a military-style vehicle rolling up to a residence. According to neighbors, the occupants, clad in fatigues and body armor, conducted an immigration raid, detaining a family that included children.
The June 9 incident involved a drab green vehicle. A person stood in the hatch, holding what appeared to be a gun equipped with a paintball hopper, commonly used for non-lethal munitions like pepper spray balls. It remains unclear if any shots were fired.
Neighbors, who requested anonymity due to fear of retaliation, said the vehicle damaged the home’s front gate. Authorities then removed five to seven people, including at least two children, from the premises.
Details about the agency involved remain unconfirmed. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department stated they were unaware of the incident. Other agencies, including the National Guard, U.S. Northern command, the White House, the Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, have not yet responded to requests for comment.
The house targeted in the Compton immigration raid is located near railroad tracks and Compton-Woodley Airport. Easter decorations and a “Security One” sign remained on display. The military vehicle left the driveway gate mangled and a white van with smashed windows, according to neighbor Jesse Ramirez, 25.
Ramirez reported that family members witnessed the event and showed him video footage. He said five people of Mexican descent—two parents, another adult, and two teenagers—were detained and have not returned.
another neighbor, Frank Cervantes, 35, viewed the incident via his Ring camera. He described the vehicle as a “war vehicle—SWAT-style,” expressing concern about the use of resources. “They need to be near the border fighting fentanyl, what are they doing here?” Cervantes said.
Ramirez voiced concerns for his immigrant family, stating, “It’s a bit scary, considering I have family who are immigrants. The lengths they’ll go to—they took kids… That’s traumatic for them to go through.” The immigration enforcement team’s actions have left the community shaken.
